The beer fountain festival was first celebrated in 1954. The brewer Ernst-Ludwig Barre had the idea to set up a fountain, which once a year - in the middle of August - poured thousands of liters of Lübbecke beer for everyone. In the meantime, the Day of the Beer Fountain has become a three-day town festival. On the festival Sunday, the market square becomes a large beer garden, bands provide musical accompaniment. In the presence of Gambrinus, the beer king and patron saint of brewers, beer will be served between 11 am and 6 pm. The proceeds will go to charity.
